You’ve picked the voice. Time to give it an assignment. Have your downloaded Soul Kit ready, then open ChatGPT or Codex with Soulware available. Here’s the setup, minus the hold music.

In local Codex, attach your kit and ask: “Install this Soul Kit for my Codex user, but only use it when I select it.”
For one project, ask: “Install this Soul Kit for this project.” To make it a default too, add: “Make it this project’s default voice.”
Local installation needs access to your computer’s files and Python 3.10 or newer. Do that part in local Codex. ChatGPT can use an attached kit in a conversation without installing it on your computer.
A little troubleshooting.
Where is my Soul Kit?
Check your browser’s download folder or the location you chose. The filename ends in .soulkit.json. Attach that file, or give local Codex its location on your computer. If several kits are available, tell Soulware which one to use.
The builder holds your draft in the open page. Download the version you want before refreshing or closing the tab; either action clears the draft.
Use, install, or make it a default?

A saved default works alongside the task’s other instructions. After installing a voice or changing its default, you may need to start a new Codex task for the change to take effect.
Why did my writing change but the conversation stayed the same?
A kit can guide the writing, the conversation, or both. Hugh takes the writing assignment. To check what your kit covers, ask: “What is this Soul Kit’s voice scope?” Soulware will explain the setting.
Your instructions, audience, format, and facts still come first. A voice should know when to leave a joke out.
Soulware says my file is invalid. What should I do?
Save the error message, then check that you attached the downloaded .soulkit.json file in full. If the download stopped early, download it again. Changing a filename alone won’t make another file a valid Soul Kit.
Ask Soulware which field or format needs attention. Fix missing fields, duplicate entries, unsupported versions, or incomplete content before using the kit. If it flags an instruction unrelated to communication style, correct or regenerate that part.
How do I update a kit?
In local Codex, provide the newer kit and ask: “Update my installed Soul Kit with this version.” Tell it whether you installed the voice for your Codex user or for one project.
An update needs the same kit ID and a higher version number. If the content changes without a new version, or you’ve edited the installed files, Soulware reports a conflict and keeps the files for you to review.
How do I stop using a voice or remove it?
To stop in the current conversation, ask: “Stop using this voice.” The installed skill and any saved default remain until you ask to remove them.
For a local installation, first ask: “Show my installed Soul Kits and defaults for this project.” Then identify the kit and ask: “Remove this installed Soul Kit and its default from this project.” Use “for my Codex user” instead when that is where it was installed.
Soulware removes its unmodified generated files and the selected kit’s managed default. It keeps files you’ve edited and explains the conflict. Ask which files changed before deciding what to keep or move. Removing the Soulware helper plugin by itself does not remove separately installed voice skills.
Do I need an account or API key?
The Soulware helper needs neither an account nor an API key. It makes no per-message calls to Honorary Human. ChatGPT or Codex has its own access requirements and conversation policies. Live generation on this website is a separate service. Read about your drafts and data.
